Hard as it may be to believe of a Hitchcock, it doesn’t arouse suspense, which is, of course, what justifies and transforms the sadism that lies at the heart of every thriller. Here the sadism is all too nakedly, repellently present.

I watched this movie when I was a kid and took the opportunity to share it with my grandchildren on the big screen! To top it off we had dinner and a movie for our evening out.

The Birds is an absolute classic and one of my favorite suspense films of all time. Every element comes together to make for a masterwork of the genre, and the only possible thing I could knock about is outdated filming technology, but that hardly matters to me. I'd recommend this film to everybody in the world (unless you have ornithophobia, that is).

Greetings from Lithuania. I've watched "The Birds" (1963) few times in the past and find this movie to be pretty good. I do believe it looked way better when seen for the first time upon release in 1963. Time wasn't particularly kind to this film in terms of visuals - still they look pretty good - practical effects do look good. This is a darkly funny film and at the same time disturbing. There are few white-knuckle suspense moments brilliantly staged by Alfred Hitchcock. Acting was pretty good. Overall, "The Birds" remains still somewhat entertaining film, one that should be seen for fans of Alfred Hitchcock. It is not his best work by far, but it's entertaining one nevertheless.
