Reporter Angela (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman Scott (Steve Harris) are doing a story on night-shift firefighters for a reality-TV program. A late-night distress call takes them to a Los Angeles apartment building, where the police are investigating a report of horrific screams. The TV team and emergency workers find an old woman, who suddenly attacks with teeth bared. What's more, Angela and company find that the building has been sealed by CDC workers. Then the attacks really begin.

Even with the overacting, I think Quarantine stands out as one of the classic found footage examples. If I had to point people to a movie to watch, I would point them at REC before this. You can find REC right now on prime for a few bucks.

Quarantine doesn’t "remake" [REC] so much as it coughs up a smudged, off‑brand bootleg louder, dumber, and somehow even less coherent. It takes the original’s tight, pulse‑killing terror and wrings it dry, leaving behind a limp, tension‑free knockoff that feels like someone tried to recreate greatness after skimming a plot summary.

Re-watching: After living through a REAL pandemic and Quarantine it makes me chuckle. Because before the world shut down this is how we really thought it was gonna go down. It’s fun though!

Nothing to do with the original version of the film. The acting is under all criticism and terribly fake. The film is shot somehow in a rushed manner which makes it even more boring. Unlike the original version, this film is shot with a much more modern camera which gives a feeling of a cleaner and more shiny image of the picture but takes away its realism. Overall, it can be said that it is a complete waste of time.

Quarantine had potential but it completely missed the mark for me. I liked the overall vibe and atmosphere, it definitely tries to create tension and chaos, but everything else fell flat. The acting was terrible, the characters felt unrealistic, and the whole idea of locking down one building while police and firefighters are trapped inside without any information just didn’t make sense. It’s hard to stay invested when the story logic is so weak. The ending wasn’t satisfying either, and while I understand this is a remake of another film, I still expected much more. Overall, a disappointing experience that could have been so much better.
