M T @RT40921817 6d If you removed the Sci-fi component, you would still have a complete movie. A more accurate Title would have been "How not to Apologize". Imagine if "Iron Man" was about a random civilian going through a tough time, and occasionally a TV in the background showed Iron man flying around in the suit. That's how much this movie was about a second Earth. That all said, I liked the movie for what it turned out to actually be. it was compelling, and thought provoking, and I actually like the slow pacing even though I know people tend to criticize that, which is valid, but I relate to staring blankly and being in my thoughts about regret. I felt that those drawn out moments were accurate to my lived experience. Also, props for having possibly the first ever accurate depiction of videogames in a movie. The Movie could have also been called "How to play Wii Boxing" because the Videogame scene did more for effectively illustrating Rhoda's inner struggle to enjoy things than the second earth. But the ending was unforgivably stupid. The entire reason I accepted Rhoda giving John her ticket was simple: he could never truly love the woman who killed his family. That's psychological reality. The other Earth offered a version of her without that blood—he should have gone there. The final shot should have been him standing at her door, finally free to love without trauma. Instead, they sent her there, leaving John behind with his grief. It completely betrays his character and the movie's own logic. Also, they never explain why the Earths were getting closer—or any of the sci-fi mechanics. It was all vague, pretentious nonsense. Interesting setup, but the ending wasn't profound—it was cowardly and made no emotional sense. Total waste. See more Jovana M. @J_loves_movies Jun 20 It's a really deep and dark movie. Definitely more an introspective drama genre than a sci-fi, so if you are a sci-fi fan, then skip this. spoiler alert: Very much focused on feelings and how people deal with grief and guilt with the simultaneous sci-fi aspect of it with the discovery of Earth 2, which they wanted to make represent as the place where things turned out differently than in Earth 1. I think I had different expectations which is why I didn't like this movie or enjoy it. It was also weird she hooked up with the guy whose family she killed in car crash. And I didn't get the part about the other janitor and their part of the plot either. The most interesting part of the movie were the last 4 seconds of if when she sees herself, which tells us that on Earth 2, she didn't give the man the ticket, but proceeded to go herself. Overall, it’s a thoughtful and unique film that rewards patience, even if it feels a bit slow at times. i rate it a 7/10 See more Luis M @RT11088085 Oct 24 Only a FOOL will turn a cool sci-fi concept like alternate dimensions and turn it into a "soap Opera" that you can watch at midday on open TV.... there are a LOT of scientific problems with this idea such as how the gravitational forces would create earthquakes in both earths, or how at that distance Any radio telescope observatory could listen easily to all their transmissions, or how it got into our orbit so easily (how did it decelerate??) but the problem I have is not scientific but that they didn't explore this concepts and instead they made it into some BS drama!! (they pulled the same crap with a movie about time travel called "Kate&Leopold" with Meg Ryan, making it a romantic comedy)... however, it was written by the very same Actress Brit Marling!!
