British director Lawrence Jacomelli dons the appropriate outlaw squint for this cat-and-mouse thriller -- one that’s capable of picking out a sharp composition, too -- but ultimately his debut is too disjointed to hit top gear.

The acting, the direction, the characters (including minor roles), and evermore tense scenarios are all executed to be fully immersive and engaging. For a debut film, Jacomelli proves he is a talent to watch.

Tense thriller with a realistic and creepy premise that makes it all the more suspenseful and anxiety provoking. The type of movie that will continue to live with you when you drive through desolate towns out West.

blood star is a dark and intense movie. the story feels very heavy and keeps you on edge most of the time. some parts are a bit confusing and not everything is explained clearly, but it still pulls you in. it has a rough and gritty feeling that sticks with you after watching.
