Critics Consensus

The beautifully filmed Damsel injects the western genre with a welcome dose of humor and some unexpected twists, although its stately pace may frustrate impatient viewers.

A midmovie plot twist hands the narrative over to Mia Wasikowska as the sweetheart, and her committed performance seems out of place in this extended goof.

Throughout the film, Pattinson's control of his accent, his ability to add complexity to an imbecilic character, and his comedic timing are new signs that he is more than that Twilight dream boy.

With humor as dry as the topography, Damsel is the kind of film that sneaks up on you like a snake in the weeds.

A tremendously fun movie, Damsel reinvigorates the Western aesthetic even as it defies many of the genre’s story conventions.

An excellent subversive take on Westerns, with great performances from Wasikowska and Pattinson alike

Damsel (2018) The story is quite simple and even silly at times. Robert Pattinson's character He has a certain charm, but he doesn't have much screen time.

Meh. Mediocre CGI. Predictable story. Millie Bobby Brown's performance is the only thing that saves it from being total trash. C-

Damsel is a decent film. It is about an affluent pioneer who ventures across the American frontier to marry the love of his life. Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. David and Nell Zellner did alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor and drama.
