Aspects are also predictable. But overall, this is a heartfelt and largely understated film (especially for Perry) that will draw you in if you let it.

It's not that the character can't be good or noble, but it pushes this story more toward fairy tale. Even though Perry's Prince Charming is a former prison inmate, he still comes across as Mr. Perfect, an angel archetype.

This movie is a tearjerker! Beautiful performances and lovely message. Tamberla Perry gave an exceptional performance as Anika’s mother. I kept saying, “This lady can act!!!” I don’t know how many times we cried during this movie. The characters also cried. It is just a lovely movie. I’ll be watching it again and again.

I liked this movie a lot. I wish we’d gotten a look at them five years after the movie ended. Maybe there were a few tired tropes (NYT), but I enjoyed it!
