It is quite repellant, which in this case can be read as a compliment; it is what Blackhurst was going for, after all. Scratch the surface, however, and it’s less flattering, one predictable element among many in this utterly predictable film.

It’s a bit of a snooze, but Therese is very good at channelling terror and distress; she really gets to go hog wild with those modes at the end in one long tribute to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

As far as backwoods horror films go, Dolly is running on empty story wise, but Blackhurst channels the grimy, grainy ambience of 70s charnel house terror well enough to tolerate its existence.

Dolly is a scrappy, low-budget horror movie about a mute, hulking serial killer in a doll mask, a wig, and a prairie dress. Paying homage to 1970s backwoods slasher flicks, this movie has its flaws, but it doesn't take itself too seriously.

(Fabianne Therese) Macy, a young woman that is on a day trip with her boyfriend (Seann William Scott) Chase is abducted by a monstrous disturbing creature intent on being her new Mommy and raising her as her own daughter. It had the gore, disturbing acts and it had the star (Max the Impaler) Dolly And (Ethan Suplee)Toby was a fun character too! distribution by Shudder and IFC. It's noted for its gritty aesthetic, practical effects, and a killer inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, with plans for sequels and prequels already in the works. It's blending 1970s exploitation horror with modern elements and I loved every second of it The score was great and so was the creepy dolls aesthetic. For me the film grit actually was more reminiscent of the original Last House On The Left Rather than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The brutality was fun to watch. Its going back to the mute killer tropes which I always loved honestly.. it's deranged and more menacing. Oh the slow walk hunter and the forest tripper.. too. It's a must see for horror fans! HELLO DOLLY 👋

cool being shot on old school 16mm film, healthy gore. plot had some believability issues. Best scenes were in the trailer minus a cool beheading.

This is one of those movies that shows the hidden value of a list. You can take risk baby. I should have waited for this to be on Shudder. It’s fine in the sense of movie. Like the people that worked it can find work after this it was a made well. For me the annoying part was the chapters. They were unnecessary because it picked where the movie was going anyway. I think chapters should be used when there’s a needs to tell the story out of order and it makes more sense to jump around timeline wise. Some chapters felt like 5 minutes. Maybe it was to go with the baby/toy theme I can see that. Once they passed chapter 5 it got old,
