Crysta is a fairy who lives in FernGully, a rainforest in Australia, and has never seen a human before. In fact, she is told they are extinct. But when a logging company comes near the rainforest, she sees that they do exist, and even accidentally shrinks one of them: a boy named Zak. Now her size, Zak sees the damage that the company does and helps Crysta to stop not only them, but an evil entity named Hexxus, who feeds off pollution.

The visuals are very pleasing. The story tells a useful lesson, the jungle inhabitants are amusing, and although the movie is not a masterpiece it's pleasant to watch for its humor and sweetness.

Ferngully: The Last Rainforest is a great introduction to environmental awareness to viewers ages 02-06. Explaining the concepts of pollution and deforestation through whimsical elements such as talking bats, and fairies was a very smart choice to introduce children to these ever present environmental issues in our world. The villain being a personification of common pollutants voiced by the always fantastic Tim Curry was a great way to characterize to children the dangers of pollution upon the worlds climate. Having a main human character Zach also experience everything going on first hand helps to give younger audiences a point of view story wise showing how anyone can learn and help make a difference to protect the environment. The inclusion of the songs helps to give audience members hummable ear worms that can help them remember what the film is teaching, and how they can apply it in the real world. In conclusion Ferngully: The Last Rainforest is a great film for young viewers.

I grew up absolutely adoring this movie. This film is probably a big part of my love for nature and environmental causes. After watching it as an adult, there are definitely some problems with it, but it is still a good time. Tim Curry slays the role of the villain though. I can't believe that his went head to head with Disney back in the day.

FernGully matches the existential crisis of every child born in the 90s mixed with Land Before Time graphics in a beautiful coming-of-age story that also highlights important environmental activism. Musical numbers highlighting the genius of Robin Williams and Tim Curry (rip to both). The animators, script writers, and song writers have made one of the hallmark films of the 90s. I’ll never forget the scene running through the water puddles, it reminds me of Pamukkale. TIM CURRY WILL MAKE YOU FEEL THINGS
