What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's enthusiastically acted and reasonably fun, but Jack the Giant Slayer is also overwhelmed by digital effects and a bland, impersonal story.

Forget that Giant Slayer feels photocopied and is entirely unnecessary. It's just not exciting. Go to Full Review David Sexton London Evening Standard Mar 22, 2013

A story of derring do and social climbing, serving as an excuse for colossal battles with a load more orcs, the true purpose of the movie. Go to Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Sep 4, 2023

While it borrows from plenty of other better movies that came before it, "Jack the Giant Slayer" is one buffed-up fairy tale movie that works. Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Sep 12, 2022

Even if the prevailing flavorlessness of everything onscreen leaves us feeling somewhat indifferent, Singer’s clear-cut presentation must be admired. Go to Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Dec 3, 2020

It's an interesting idea - to make a theatrical, big-budget, computer effects-heavy action film based on the simple tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Robert P @Superbad Sep 17, 2026 Jack the Giant Slayer = a *3* star Movie! See more Andrew T @RT72355796 Jul 21, 2026 This movie was actually pretty good. It is not great by any means but it is surprisingly enjoyable to watch. You would expect the actors to phone in their performances for such a B movie but the performances in this movie are actually pretty good and the cgi and special effects are pretty cool as well. There are some illogical moments to look past but if you turn your brain off and just have a fun time watching, it is not bad at all. It is not for everyone though. Some people will think it’s cheesy and dumb and not worth watching, and they would not be wrong, but I like it. 6/10 See more Carlos M @CarlosMZ Apr 5, 2026 No entiendo las malas criticas esta película esta muy buena me recuerda a la aventura de el guisante mágico pero con acción y mejor lore See more Cooper F @Cooper202 Nov 26, 2025 One of my favorites of all time. Watched it at least 50 times. See more thiago s @Thiagostone Oct 23, 2025 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Bezaleel Oct 10, 2025 I really like this movie because it's one of the best movies ever and it's also very fun too watch.
