Critics Consensus

Jurassic Park III is darker and faster than its predecessors, but that doesn't quite compensate for the franchise's continuing creative decline.

The third film is neither as scary nor as serious as the first two. It borrows heavily from its predecessors and the Alien series, and runs out of energy. Go to Full Review

Moses C. @RT91829225 1d Say it with me now, THE. HATE. IS. FORCED!!! It’s my favorite movie in the franchise, that’s just my opinion though! And it had my favorite dinosaur in the world, that being the spinosaurus!!! Loved it! See more Vixo S @vixo_six 2d Jurassic Park III works best when it accepts itself as a lean survival thriller. Joe Johnston removes much of the wonder and philosophical scale of the first film, but replaces them with speed, vulnerability and clean suspense. The result is smaller, sharper and more entertaining than its reputation suggests. Sam Neill gives the sequel its strongest anchor, returning to Dr Alan Grant as someone changed by earlier trauma, more guarded and skeptical but still intellectually alive. His presence gives the film emotional structure beyond the action. The film also keeps a meaningful idea alive: the creatures are not attractions or assets, but living animals misunderstood by human arrogance. Don Davis' score and the physical staging of the action add energy and immediacy. It may not have the depth or magic of the original, but it is tense, direct and more rewatchable than many give it credit for. See more Jace T @RT30473652 Jun 1 I honestly think it is overhated and sure it wasn't as good as the first 2 but it is still a good movie i hate how the hate on this movie made them stop making anymore for 15 years it's not fair to base a movie on how good it is because it wasn't as good as the other ones. See more Grayson R. @JurassicFan May 29 overhated the spinosaurus is sick and it finding out the T-rex’s weakness because of how long it has had to fight was a cool idea didn’t like the army getting involved at the end though. See more UKTrain96 T @RT71933463 May 23 I actually quite enjoyed it over all - yes it is way shorter and the story may sound too basic. At least Sam Neill returns. I wouldn't write it off, but don't be blown away by it. See more Mikendrick G @GodzillaFOREVER May 8 It was very good honestly See more Read all reviews
