David H @DHoffm 15h The movie seeks to preach and fails to focus on entertaining. It is superliminal with each and every sermon. Not a moment is wasted getting down the the ideological agenda when you meet the heroic protagonist- she isn't young, she prioritized family, and her child is non-binary presenting feminine characteristics. Things don't improve from there. You don't need to skip this movie as you have already seen it. There isn't a single twist or turn in the entire thing. I believe this was mandated by the union to make up for not canceling Dave Chappele. They had to make it but you don't have to watch it. Yes, the stereotypes of male and female behavior are "exaggerated", but it’s *satire*. As a woman watching in 2026, I appreciate all the well-placed subtle jabs throughout the movie (I’m sure some men do too, but the movie appeals most to the gender that most intimately deals with the sexist behavior the movie satirizes). "Old boys clubs" are not a figment of the past- they exist today in subtle ways. For a review to say this movie is outdated.. either you live in a beautiful part of the world or you’re personally offended. It’s a feelgood movie with amusing details comparing the male- vs female-centric world. Aim was not to depict the "realistic truth" of gender norms today but to poke fun at the ones that impact women over MANY generations: being caretakers, maintaining the "right" amount of attractiveness for career success, romantic forwardness. Yes, as of 2026, men are in these roles too, but it’s naive to think there no further work to do. See more Andrea K @RT04598322 1d I find it hilarious/discouraging that this movie got 26% from the critics, which I noticed were almost all men. They were saying this movie references things from 20 years ago that aren’t happening now, but then look at the gender of critics and you will see it isn’t as far fetched. I loved this movie and want every man to watch it. Yes, thankfully the sexual harassment isn’t as bad as it once was, but the rest hits the nail on the head. See more Alex P @AlP1987 Aug 2 Don't bother. Decided to give it a chance since Sacha Cohen is usually pretty hilarious. Couldn't even make it past 20 minutes in this disaster. I truly cannot fathom why anyone would waste their time, and cheapen their image by being a part of this production. Its much like a 70s or 80s movie in which social dynamics are upended to provoke thought, but its so infantile and stupid that it exceeds the use of the word corny. Why was it marketed as a comedy? There is OBVIOUSLY no attempt at humor by anyone in the film. I suspect this is another unholy dump taken by the woke Hollywood crowd. Humor and comedy are the first casualties of the mentally unhinged woke crowd. Theyre only allowed to take a poke at white men. See more L. F @RT68678650 Aug 1 In trying to be subversive, the film manages to be even more sexist & out of touch than the tropes it was parodying. Men = crude humour, beer, over-sexed, emotionally barren & shirking responsibilities; women = childcare, cooking, salads, cardigans & cats. Yes, it was purposely stereotypical, but it wasn't funny or clever with it. It was a confused concept & some elements seemed to miss the point entirely! If it was about showing a gender-based power reversal, then having women act more "masculine" when in power & men more "feminine" when not in power was an odd choice & just played for cheap laughs - for the premise to truly work, women should have been valued more for their feminine energy while masculinity is ridiculed & undervalued. If it was to highlight misogyny in the workplace, they did this within the first 5mins - no need for the alternate reality & more subtle forms of misogyny could have been shown.
