From acclaimed actress Robin Wright comes her directorial debut LAND, the poignant story of one woman's search for meaning in the vast and harsh American wilderness. Edee (Wright), in the aftermath of an unfathomable event, finds herself unable to stay connected to the world she once knew and in the face of that uncertainty, retreats to the magnificent, but unforgiving, wilds of the Rockies. After a local hunter (Demián Bichir) brings her back from the brink of death, she must find a way to live again.

Critics Consensus

Land's lovely vistas can't compensate for a hollowness at its center.

I expected something interesting and artistic. I got something that looks nice but is utterly predictable.

[A]ll the dilemmas here - from bear attacks to food shortages - are entirely free of jeopardy and simply exist to provide our director-star with another chance to stage swoon-worthy photo ops by the wood-burner.

Wright is sympathetic and believable, but we never truly get a sense of Edee or her desires outside the bounds of her loss.

There are some serious pacing issues for the second half of this film. The story could've used some fine-tuning down the line.

Wright and Bichir’s compelling performances, as well as stunning cinematography by Bobby Bukowski, make Land a worthwhile journey from the numbness of loss to the joys of finding peace within.

For director/star Wright this film could have been something significant if she didn’t place herself second to the land she was filming on.

I enjoyed beautiful views of nature and wildlife and realized what a challenge it would be living alone in the wilderness would be. Some parts were difficult to watch. It made me empathize the weight on a person's mind while dealing with a mental health crisis. What a blessing a stranger's kindness can be!

It wasn’t the greatest movie. Kind of boring, and hated the ending.

I am also walking through the valley of grief so I was able to see the hope at the end of the movie. Robin Wright did a spectacular job portraying her character.
