A rural roadside diner becomes the host of a maniacal killing spree – leaving a young waitress to clean up the mess. After hard-headed Nancy fires the staff at her dad’s diner, she decides to cover the last shift of the night by herself. Little does she know, she is far from alone. The day is coming back to haunt her and when things begin to spiral out of control, she must fight for her life over the course of one long night.

Last Straw is as much about the journey as it is the destination, and there’s a genuine feeling of delight as protagonist Nancy’s night from hell takes us to places its otherwise seemingly generic set-up might not prepare us for.

It's set entirely in a diner, which I love, and Jessica Belkin is a character you might be annoyed by at first, but give her a chance. She has a nice arc. This is what The Strangers Chapter 1 should have been due to the killers having a similar appeal.

Its straightforward approach to making the most of its simple premise and limited budget is ultimately the reason it succeeds. Last Straw starts out slow, but once it gets going, there’s plenty of action and twists to keep you invested.

This was a great movie. It starts a little slow, but it quickly picks up and becomes very engaging. The acting is excellent, and I really enjoyed the storyline. It was touching overall, and I appreciated that it had a positive ending. I especially liked the father/daughter dynamic, which felt genuine and added a lot of heart to the story. The music was also interesting and added to the mood in a unique way. There was an unusual twist that I didn’t expect, which made it stand out from other films I’ve seen. I watch a lot of movies, and I really liked this one. Definitely recommend it.

Normally I trust rotten tomatoes, but this time I am surprised about the good reviews. It wasn’t really bad but it wasn’t good either. As a big lover of slasher movies I didn’t enjoy this one. More of a thriller than a slasher and it definitely wasted my time.

Often I would come across a film that has ambition & goes beyond its means, but thankfully "Last Straw" isn't one of them. Despite what I saw as minor issues, it's an engaging debut from Alan Scott Neal. It's more than your average siege horror as the film is effective at creating the sense ofbisolation with the location of the rural diner & it's well executed with its perspectives within the film's narrative & how it comes back around on itself. Jessica Belkin holds her own as the lead of the story as she goes through the emotions with her character. Dealing with her personal life at her job & having to cover the night by herself, which begins her nightmare in surviving against incidents from the day now back to haunt her.
