Jacob B Feb 13 Even if you've never seen A Goofy Movie in its entirety, Not Just A Goof is still an excellent documentary focusing on a smaller scale project set outside of the Disney Animated Canoj. I like seeing the cast and crew looking back on its production, it's nice to see Jeffrey Katzenberg being talked about in a way that depicts him as reasonable whilst not mincing words regarding bad ideas such as having Steve Martin as Goofy, the mid-'90s archive footage is nostalgic and the small animated segments dramatising BTS woes are well-implemented without coming off as an afterthought to get people who otherwise wouldn't be caught dead watching documentaries to see this one. You can tell this was a passion project for this crew and how grateful they were when the film got vindicated by history after being dismissed for not being an 80-minute-long Goofy cartoon. That's all I have to say about this doc. No contrarian comments from me dismissing this as a cynical ad for a film nearly turning 30. See more Buddy M May 16 Growing up, I definitely saw A Goofy Movie but it wasn't one that stuck with me after childhood. After seeing this release, I re-watched the original movie, for the first time in 20+ years, then watched this right after. The original movie was way better than it had any business being. Good story with a lot of heart. This doc was very entertaining as well. Again, I'm not the biggest Goofy fan but still found this enjoyable and very well made. We learn about the challenges and struggles the film faced before and after it was released, and how “A Goofy Movie” has gone on to become a beloved classic that deserves more attention and recognition. I’m a huge fan of “A Goofy Movie,” and I highly recommend watching this documentary. Even if for whatever reasons you haven’t seen “A Goofy Movie,” I still recommend this film because it sheds excellent light on why it was so impactful to people and pop culture. The entire crew did a fantastic job on telling the story of the making and impact of one of the greatest animated Disney movies ever, A Goofy Movie. It was a very interesting story and I was shocked to see how it's become a cult classic today. If you haven't seen this documentary yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.
