La sceneggiatura non è particolarmente interessante se analizzata al di fuori del contesto, ma lo spettacolo continuo di magia e soprattutto di CGI rende il film elettrizzante. Inoltre i personaggi sono tutti piuttosto interessanti e particolari, non i classici buoni e cattivi ma un insieme di diverse personalità tra cui spicca senz'altro quella del Daniel Atlas di Jesse Eisenberg, leader che leader non è. Il finale poi include un plot twist importante e molto ben celato rende più epico il racconto ed il finale. Film adeguato a tutti e differente da tutto il genere da cui è tratto.
