When Elizabeth Rogers (Jane Powell) travels to Paris with her father Jim (Wendell Corey), a wealthy Texas rancher, she falls under the spell of Andre Milan (Vic Damone), a young Frenchman. Forgetting all about her boyfriend back home, she throws herself headlong into a seemingly doomed cross-cultural romance. Meanwhile, Marie (Danielle Darrieux), the Parisian mother she never knew -- and always thought was dead -- hears of Elizabeth's arrival and plots to meet her against her father's wishes.

06/30/2016 MGM musical starts out brightly but loses steam toward the end; Jane Powell and Vic Damone (in his film debut) introduce the Oscar-nominated song "Wonder Why?" and French star Danielle Darrieux is lovely and performs an amusing duet with Fernando Lamas to "We Never Talk Much." See more 07/07/2013 Pleasant bit of fluff with Wendell Corey surprisingly singing a few songs. The script makes little sense but is played sincerely by the cast, although a little more Una Merkel would have been welcome.
