The movie juggles British rock from the 60s, Charlie Chaplin cameos, Jack the Ripper, and kung fu umbrellas like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Spoiler alert: it’s not. But Jackie Chan makes you believe it anyway. Chan is the soul of the film, delivering jaw-dropping fight sequences that blend martial arts with slapstick in ways that make you laugh, wince, and cheer all at once. He even pays cheeky homage to Singin’ in the Rain, because why not? Donnie Yen joins the ride just to remind us that watching two masters go at it on screen is a gift. Fann Wong shines, bringing strength and charm to a role that finally gives the female lead something to do beyond looking concerned. Now for the not-so-great. Owen Wilson seems like he's still playing the same guy from the last film. No growth, no surprises, just more of the same lazy charm and cluelessness. It's funny... until it isn’t. And the movie’s attempt at historical fiction? Let’s just say your history teacher would faint. But it’s hard to stay mad when you’re having this much fun. So yes, it's ridiculous.
