Mexican immigrant and single mother Flor Moreno (Paz Vega) finds housekeeping work with Deborah (Téa Leoni) and John Clasky (Adam Sandler), a well-off couple with two children of their own. When Flor admits she can't handle the schedule because of her daughter, Cristina (Shelbie Bruce), Deborah decides they should move into the Clasky home. Cultures clash and tensions run high as Flor and the Claskys struggle to share space while raising their children on their own, and very different, terms.

Critics Consensus

Paz Vega shines, and Adam Sandler gives a performance of thoughtfulness and depth, but Spanglish is ultimately undermined by sitcommy plotting and unearned uplift.

It's so ironic that the main character played by Adam Sandler, is a chef, and I was nauseated, and had indigestion after watching this movie. Barf!

This was so cute, not the Adam Sandler comedy I was expecting. I think, while the ending was the “happily ever after” many seek out, was still perfect in its own way. I really liked this movie.

A movie is defined on the writer . I feel they had all the talent for a great movie but the writer failed to define each character and true plot . Making this movie all over the place like a reality tv show instead of a movie with purpose.

I love this movie DESPITE Adam Sandler, who was not a great choice for a convincing romantic lead. I just wonder: why didn’t he leave his wife for her? Even before she cheated on him, he couldn’t stand his wife. She obviously felt the need to stray. Why not be with the woman you loved? Her daughter was great and could have stayed in the school she loved. Would it have been just too much of a Hollywood happy ending?

Synopsis
