08/21/2010 This was a lot funnier than I expected. See more 08/21/2010 well umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch.................its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie...............i think thnat frances barber, jesse bildner, kevin bishop, debbie chazen, michelle chadwick, chris bottrel play good roles/parts throughout this movie................i think that frances barber, kevin bishop, debbie chazen, chris bottrel were great throughout this movie............i think that the director of this comedy/drama/romance movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie..............i think that this is a great romance movie 2 watch its really good n its a really enjoyable movie 2 watch with a brilliant cast thorughout this movie its really enjoyable movie 2 watch See more 05/16/2010 Oy Vey! What a movie! We were home late from a party on Saturday night and I put the TV on to wind down a bit before sleeping and 'Suzie Gold' had just started. I couldn't switch off the TV - I got so engrossed. This movie was fantastic - so tongue-in-cheek! Summer Phoenix is uniquely beautiful and a great actress in this role. The guy who plays her Jewish boyfriend is perfectly obnoxious (obviously chosen for the role) and of course, I fell in love with the 'forbidden' boyfriend who was not Jewish. The family were just hysterical, especially the 'rap' brother. Reminded me of a modern-day Pride & Prejudice - the parents being like the Bennetts - " I will never speak to you again unless you accept his proposal" says one and the other:" You will have one of your parents not talking to you no matter what you do, because I will not talk to you if you do marry him" (not the exact words, but the gist of what is said). Mrs. Gold being dead against the relationship with the non-Jewish boy and Mr Gold insisting that Suzie should not marry anyone that she does not love. I loved 'Suzie Gold' - I think it could well be one of those quirky movies that ends up with a real cult following. I am going to do my best to find it on DVD and watch it again and again.
