isla s @RT89656869 Sep 3, 2022 This is not an action based crime drama, this is a biographic drama. The story is interesting, a little sobering and frustrating at times, understandably so. It takes a while for the main plot to really gather pace, for the radio station/channel to begin broadcasting, which is the main part of the story and when it did, I couldn't deny there was a slight 'Good Morning Vietnam!' feel to it. I thought the script was pretty good - its fairly thoughtful stuff but it didn't entirely grip me, as I had a feeling it'd be somewhat predictable and I guess it was. Not the most action packaed film, this is pretty good as a family drama that highlights the worries and concerns of multiple generations of the same family about their circumstances, shall I say. There's not too much I can say without giving things away but I did quite like the soundtrack/songs features - there's a decent playlist featured here, including songs by The Sweet, Procol Harum and The Animals. Yes, I'd recommend it if it interests you and your looking for more of a dialogue based film, rather than an CGI/action fest of a film - also be aware of course this is an Italian film, hence subtitles are needed if you don't speak Italian (like me). I liked the guy, agree with him politically and enjoyed the performances and the camera angles they used, but my goodness at no point did any of his vigilantism against the Mafia seem like it had been effective enough to be worth the risk of losing his life. Every action he took was 25% effective propaganda and 75% a display of just complete disdain for his own life, especially watching it with the benefit of hindsight. It's like he wanted to be a martyr so bad that if they hadn't gone ahead and killed him he'd have ended up lighting himself on fire in the middle of a busy intersection. I enjoyed watching him do it though! See more Apr 29, 2020 I Cento Passi (One Hundred Steps) or (The Hundred Steps) is a very intelligent film with a plot that could easily be mixed up with the typical "mafia films serie." This film was directed exquisitely and well portrayed by the actors and cast crews. I am not very fond of movies that can be compared to films from the "golden years" (sixties-seventies) of Italian cinema, however for me I Cento Passi is a must see today to say that this film and the director: Giordana does not have anything to envy to Francesco Rosi and his films. Luigi Lo Cascio who plays the character Peppino Impastato did an excellent work with getting deeply involved with who Peppino was and the events that took place in his life. This film is worth buying on Prime or any other platform available (Netflix, DVD, Hulu, etc). Do not miss the opportunity to watch this film. See more Mar 24, 2017 A movie worth to be watched. Firstly to learn the story of Peppino Impastato, who embodies even nowadays the fight against mafia. Secondly, to enjoy a truly well-directed movie, with a great photography, a perfectly planned script and majestic acting performances. Luigi Lo Cascio, the main actor, provides probably his uttermost performance. See more Aug 5, 2013 A film based on a true story that is as moving as it is historically correct... See more Read all reviews
