The Room falls under the category of "so bad it's good." The Disaster Artist, directed by James Franco, looks to capture everything that went wrong, and a few things that miraculously went right. Go to Full Review

Franco's film is disappointing and more than a little patronizing. Go to Full Review

It's entertaining, if framed and cut a touch manically. Go to Full Review

The film is an innocent love song to the movies and all its crazy quirks. The Hollywood dream lives on proudly in The Disaster Artist. Go to Full Review

Disaster Artist is a one-joke movie, and that joke is a person, but it’s a very good joke abetted by a very good supporting cast (including Seth Rogen doing his spot-on thing) and the fringe period details... Go to Full Review

Capturing the same balance of admiration, mockery, and craft as Tim Burton's Ed Wood (1994), Franco's film pays homage to a cinematic rarity. Go to Full Review

MC R @RT91491190 10h I had to rewatch this movie at some point after I did rewatch The Room a while ago! A movie about one of the worst movies ever made! The sounds weird but The Room is a big cult hit! I love the movie The Room, not because it's so good. But because it's so bad it's funny! Tommy Wiseau is a mysterious and weird guy! James Franco did an amazing job as Tommy Wiseau, even he's weird laugh! In general it's fun to see a movie about how a bad movie is made. See more Kate T. @ckat9 2d This truly captures what it's most often like making a small independent film. While it's quite hilarious at times, it was also sad because my heart would go out to Tony. Even though he grew to be quite unlikable, I understood his pain and could also laugh shamelessly at his antics and oddities. ImJames Franco did an exceptional job at embodying this man's psyche and emotional baggage, not to mention all the physicality, strange accent, and speech impediment. Bravo! I have not seen the original cult film that this is portraying the making of. But I love that they show the scenes side-by-side at the very end so you can see what a great job they did re-creating them from the actual movie. All the acting performances were spot-on in this version. I don't know about the original, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, filled with laughs... anyone who is thinking of going to Hollywood to try and make a career in film, watch this before you go! See more Jack F @MovieFan111 May 10 You need to watch The Room first in order to really appreciate this movie. Since I did, enjoyed this much more than not knowing anything about it. The concept was a really cool thing to see, and it really brought the cast of The Room alive. I'm so glad I watched it. This thing's A24?! See more mark g @Mark_Alan_G. Feb 7 An absolute masterpiece! Franco should have won an Oscar for his performance. Insanely funny and it's not fiction, this movie parodies a film that somehow got made.
