While racing toward the town of Red Rock in post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) encounter another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. Greeted there by four strangers, the eight travelers soon learn that they may not make it to their destination after all.

While it's not his best film (it's far too long and indulgent at times), Tarantino absorbs the audience into a scene, compelling you to look at each and every inch of it--indicative of many vintage films (his usual film playground).

The tension simmers perfectly through the whole film, even after what appears to be the occasional reprieve, and with a cast at the top of their game, and direction that never feels like it's distracting from the core excitement.

When looking at Tarantino's filmography, The Hateful Eight doesn't hold a candle to works like 'Pulp Fiction' or 'Kill Bill,' but it's an entertaining film nonetheless — if you don't mind the runtime.

My second Tarantino movie and after the disaster that was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I was finally impressed. This seems like a controversial opinion, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I found it to have good pacing, entertaining from beginning to end, and incredibly strong performances from all involved. I loved the who dunnit murder mystery. I found that the constant use of the n word, which was used 57 times was completely unnecessary and uncomfortable. I get that at the time that's how black people were treated, but I feel like it went past the acceptable amount of times. There was also a lot of horrible language used towards Daisy, which also wasn't uncommon at the time, but still off putting. Apparently this is Tarantino's signature. Feet shots, sexism, and usage of the n word. Samuel L Jackson didn't have a problem with it, so I'm able to put that aside. If those things don't bother you, then I definitely recommend this to fans of westerns/murder mysteries. 5 stars.

Even though the other reviews rate this movie poorly I found it quite interesting and fun to watch. It was directed very well as expected and the acting was good almost all around. I found it an interesting way to tell a story. I am also a fan of western movies so that may be the reason for my review. 8.5/10
