In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. While it does leave out some key details from the original novel that I would have loved to have seen on the big screen, the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games is absolutely a solid film.

This film brings the Hunger Games book to life, with lots of action and while a lot of bad, just terrible people also a lot of good characters and people are brought to life almost like it was ripped straight out of the book. While I would not recommend this movie to anyone under 13 due to the violence, while usually very brief and low on actual gore. This film however does a great job sending important positive messages and will pull at your heartstrings at times. While it is an incredibly well made film, it is dragged down by violence and the world itself in some ways.
