Repressive and repressed nuns are saved by the kind, compassionate communist, and lose their faith along the way. In the end, it’s not the left that’s killing babies, but Catholic nuns. The events transpired at the conclusion of WWII when Russian troops sexually abused women in a Catholic convent. The director presents the events factually, with kindness and no nudity. What is discussed here is not the brutality of what happened but what devastating consequences followed in the life of the survivors. Many people affected do not end well, but some are able to make life livable. The acting avoids histrionics and the predominantly female cast are very believable. Nice cinematography and music.
