But this movie is a collection of clichés and of derivative horrific scenes that are supposed to shock the audience. The end is absolutely stupid and nonsensical. Lovecraftian movies are tough to pull off, and most end up mediocre — this one included. The script is bad, the cast is weak. It borrows heavily from other films but has no real tension. It’s gory without being shocking, which is a fatal flaw for this kind of story. Keep caffeine handy if you plan to sit through it.
