See more Maddie P. @Moonwatcher Apr 4 The reason why I give this movie a four out of five is that because it’s like a good movie and has the greatest aliens of all time, but I wish this movie was so much longer I wish it was like two hours long for this film. I want more screen time with the air creatures. I wanted their backstory. Why were they on earth I wanted to see the more of the air creatures without the the machines and stuff, but the reason why I have this as for an hour five is that a good film and I would love to see a secret room or more like likely the what technically happened to Robbie that why did he survive at the end? I hope they explain one day, but anyway you should see this for yourself. See more Caleb N @Calraptor2617 Apr 3 This is the most intense alien invasion movie I have ever seen! As with Spielberg’s films, all of the characters’ performances are so believable with just the right amount of dramatic flair for the main cast. The visual effects were impressive for 2005 but the sound design of the alien tripods and destruction is arguably more prominent. It’s so intimidating and deafening that you feel the terror with the people in the movie. I love the themes of detached family dynamics throughout the movie, and the conflict between the characters is shown really well as they try to survive. Tom Cruise plays an initially incompetent father figure when it comes to the dad’s kids, which is such a different mold of character from his usual man-of-action, smart action hero role. But Cruise pulls it off with such believability that you root for him the entire movie as always. The overarching theme of biological cosmic interactions is humbling in a compelling way. Such a great alien movie! See more david stephen O @Idktbh Mar 8 It was amazing in production and is fun to watch, I have one problem with it, that how it wasn't even similar to the story, at least keep the place correct, and why is there no cylinders? It's not even wotw anymore, and adding energy shields? It's basically a modern day American alien alien invasion, Hg Wells would probably be so disappointed of this movie. I remember this movie getting a lot of hate when it first released, after watching can’t remember why. Was it the best movie from its year? No, but if you’ve read the book you won’t be disappointed by the movie. While there is some flaws in some of the logic, the whole bacteria taking an other worldly species out rings possible. It has a nice balance of action and suspense to it. It falls just shy of amazing with the lack of explanation of some things. With that said, you can’t put all the details from a book into a movie. What they missed on wasn’t by much, and what they hit on they hit good. It’s definitely worth going back to 2005 and giving this one a try. See more Read all reviews
