We need a baby-sitter we can trust while nursing the last of the season's hangovers. Just try and stay out of the room for the excruciatingly sunny cover of David Bowie's Heroes. Go to Full Review

A sort of sequel to "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl," this film gives kids exactly what they want. Adults? Not so much. Go to Full Review

It’s a fun watch and a good first superhero movie for kids See more M S. @oahum May 30 This movie looks like no one ever cared about it the cgi is depressing, the sets look like plastic or foam, and the acting is just a disappointment. Along with the entire movie easily being able to be predicted. The sets feel small and kind of empty, and a lot of scenes look like they were filmed in front of a green screen. Instead of feeling big and exciting, the world feels limited, like everything is happening in a few basic rooms. For a movie about superheroes and aliens, it never really feels huge or epic. The special effects are also pretty weak. The flying, explosions, and superpowers don’t look very realistic, and some of the CGI feels unfinished. Big action moments don’t have much impact, which makes them less exciting than they should be. Even though it’s meant to be colorful and fun for kids, the low-budget visuals and not-so-great effects make it hard to fully get into the movie.
