When taken as a short story collection with a fixation on water, there’s a lot to enjoy. But its influences are so obvious that it’s hardly surprising when, yes, a mature kid inevitably befriends a wise old man on the street.

Many pointless, unconnected vignettes. There's no common thread that I can see. (Maybe you need to be from New York.)

Loved this movie! A series of very different and imaginative vignettes about New York, New York and its waterways, beaches, docks, canals...written and filmed and played by people who obviously understand and love the city and its inhabitants, all trying to ...keep floating. It's funny, poignant, sad, absurd also sometimes and it all adds up to a great moment at the movies... Did not know anything Luca Balser but this is a diamond in a rough, a very talented director... In a very impressive cast, I would single out Pauline Chalamet and Lily Sondik. Go see them!
