Hillary D @RT85874861 4 days ago I'm rating it 2 stars because I really enjoy Cicely Tyson, but ultimately I was left so frustrated with how nonsensical and historically inaccurate this portrayal of Harriet Tubman was. Harriet's life was fascinating enough without the fiction, and sadly Cicely didnt quite capture that quiet strength that contemporaries wrote about Tubman, instead she comes off as girlish, simpering and naive throughout the series until her escape. *Spoiler alert* At one point Harriet tries to save money to buy her freedom and is denied? Which never happened in real life, and makes no sense. The slaveholders also try to hire a hitman to find "Moses", but then they tell the hitman that Moses always tries to make contact with her parents when she comes to Maryland, if you know who her parents are, you know who Moses is 😂 There's TONS of plot holes like this in this series. But I guess I wouldn't expect any better from a 1978 televised portrayal of Harriet Tubman. See more Jan 4, 2020 This film is amazing. The most truthful version I've seen.
