Electric Dreams is too lightweight and, in the last analysis, inane to take the sinister attributes beyond comic bounds. Go to Full Review

This is a lighthearted romantic comedy that has its moments, both humorous and thought-provoking. Go to Full Review

Dated of course, being typically 80s, but maintains a certain charm. Go to Full Review

It is fair to describe Electric Dreams as rather mediocre, and it is difficult to imagine anybody coming to the film today finding it to be anything beyond a historical artefact. Go to Full Review

…a deeply silly film that somehow accurately predicts that technology might get in the way of our ability to socially interface in person… Go to Full Review

It really does resemble three minute rock videos strung together in the hope of coming across as narrative. Go to Full Review

DanTheMan 2 @DanTheMan2150AD Apr 1 An unabashed benchmark of 80s music video cinema, Electric Dreams holds a unique charm that's hard to dismiss, treating its bizarre setup of a love triangle between a man, a woman and a computer with surprising sincerity. It's earnest, imaginative and just strange enough to be memorable. What could have been a throwaway high-concept comedy instead becomes a somewhat thoughtful story about loneliness, love and the dawning relationship between humans and technology. Thoroughly drenched in 1980s aesthetics with neon lighting, colourful graphics, synth-heavy music and a playful tone that borders on whimsical. The soundtrack gives the film a distinctive pulse that elevates even its quieter moments, but it's the moment that Together in Electric Dreams hits that reinforces how much I love this decade of filmmaking. In the end, it's less about who wins and more about how connection, whether human or artificial, changes us. Spike Jonze has some explaining to do. See more Carlos I @carlosFibarra Jul 2 I've waited a long time to see Electric Dreams, and was woefully let down. The film flirts with "gonzo horror" territory but ultimately fails to commit, never truly venturing into the darker, more bizarre depths it hints at. What's left is a rather tepid romantic comedy, albeit one with a cool gimmick that sadly isn't enough to elevate the uninspired plot. See more WiFi R @RT10070056 Jun 28 Electric Dreams is a beautiful and charming experience that hasn't lost any relevance or charm throughout the years. The AI comments are predictable, and I won't be adding to them. Because it very clearly portrays Edgar as a person. With wants, needs, and thoughts - all communicated through such a limited medium at the time. All main characters are characterized amazingly, down to the lines they draw. It keeps a coherent plot, even if characters like Bill seem underused - Bill showed how truly distressed Madeline was. Everything was thought through, and the acting (voice acting, in Edgar's case,) is amazing as well. A necessary cult classic that I wish more people had the joy of experiencing.
