Max Mercer is a mischievous and resourceful young boy who has been left behind while his family is in Japan for the holidays. So when a married couple attempting to retrieve a priceless heirloom set their sights on the Mercer family's home, it is up to Max to protect it from the trespassers... and he will do whatever it takes to keep them out. Hilarious hijinks of epic proportions ensue, but despite the absolute chaos, Max comes to realize that there really is no place like home sweet home.

This really shouldn't be hard: find a cute kid (and they have, in the form of Jojo Rabbit's Archie Yates), and then string together a few comically implausible ways to injure another human being.

It was watchable, and i chuckled a bit, but the writing and acting just wasnt up to par. I thought it had potential at the beginning when the kid was taking the mick out of the guys dolls. They should have lent into that more and made him super obnoxious but they didnt have the guts and it fell off quickly,

So I'll admit that I chuckled at this WAY more than I expected to. The kid was way too obnoxious for me, but I did appreciate the references to the original films in a much better way than the other later sequels.

Mikey Day's writing with Kenan Thompson and Chris Parnell's presence made this feel like a drawn-out Home Alone skit on SNL. The movie has ties to the originals, but the stolen doll set up where the spoiled kid seems to be the antagonist was terrible.

Not a worthy movie for your family. A very bad example for kids. Unlike Kevin who is genuine, smart, naughty, but pure. The kid is devilish and destructive.
