For six summers, Barry's Bay was a magical place full of firsts for Percy Fraser, including first love—and first heartbreak. Ten years later, an unexpected tragedy brings Percy back to Barry's Bay, where she has to face the people, memories, and mistakes she thought she'd left behind, especially the one boy who changed her life forever—Sam Florek.

Six summers to fall in love. One moment to fall apart. A weekend to get it right—Carley Fortune’s bestseller is now a YA series for romantics of all ages, especially those who never got over the loss of "The Summer I Turned Pretty." Go to Full Review

I know it’s set in Canada, home of the maple, but, goodness, this show’s sugary sap gets sickly all too quickly, especially as it plays out to an impossibly bland and flavourless soundtrack of breathy, dirgey love songs. Go to Full Review

So besotted with its own heartbreak it forgets to sell the romantic fantasy that would make it worthwhile in the first place, it mainly serves to confirm that recapturing that The Summer I Turned Pretty magic is easier said than done. Go to Full Review

There’s nothing revolutionary or even unique about Every Year After. But the cast is charming enough and the setting is pictureseque enough to make the show a pleasant distraction for fans of romantic dramas. Go to Full Review

Aaliyah O. @hayilaa 2h 4.5/5 I’m happy with the adaptation, especially the ending. In the book, I viewed Percy differently, but I genuinely liked her portrayal in the adaptation. What I appreciated most was that it became more than just a friends-to-lovers story. It showed that sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is walk away and find who you are outside of relationships. I also appreciated that Sam didn’t forgive Percy in the end. As women, I think we often yearn for love and want relationships to work out, even after heartbreak. That’s what made the ending feel so powerful. If Sam had forgiven Percy, it would have undermined the pain, heartbreak, and damage that their relationship caused. Instead, the adaptation showed that love isn’t always enough and that choosing yourself can be the healthier choice. I thought it did a great job portraying the reality of toxic relationships and the emotional impact they leave behind. Overall, I really enjoyed it. See more Jovana M. @J_loves_movies 4h This is one of those rare adaptations where the show is even better than the book! I really enjoyed it and binged watched the entire season in a day. Points off for incorporating certain parts that were not in the book See more Chelsea and Jared S @RT62308161 4h I will happily watch almost anything, but I found this difficult to get through. The characters felt far too immature for supposed 28-year-olds and many of the storylines were hard to believe. A 28-year-old closing $40M deals and owning a beach mansion? Nearly every character seemed stuck in a failed marriage, failed engagement or dysfunctional relationship, which made it difficult to find anyone to root for. Jordy was the only character I genuinely liked. The show felt aimed at a much younger audience than its premise suggests. For me, the story would have been more believable if the characters were college-aged and only 2-3 years had passed instead of ten. See more Roonie W. @roonie0594 5h If I could rate it 0/5 I would. Such a boring painful show. Executives and future show runners take note from this adaptation, if the end goal is to manufacture enough storylines for 5 seasons maybe don’t eff up ur first season, because it might end up as the only season. See more Eline V @RT21230231 6h I’ve already read the books twice, and I’m completely in love with this story and these characters. I loved every detail, every change, and every addition made in the series. Especially because I’m currently reading *One Golden Summer*, Charlie’s book, and it makes everything that happened in Season 1 make even more sense. It really feels like the groundwork was laid for a much deeper exploration of these characters and their stories moving forward. See more sunnie L @RT27729696 9h I loved this show! I binged watched the whole thing in one day. If you loved The Summer I Turned Pretty, you will love it. See more Read all reviews
