No action, no spectacle - just brilliant writing and unforgettable performances. "12 Angry Men" movie proves that great cinema never gets old. This'll be one of the best classic movies I've seen so far. See more gungi T @WhatWhere Aug 1 An inspirational study of group mentality and psychology, investigating the nuanced dynamics of the performers involved, who are keen to come to term with an alleged obvious case, but deteriote into a complex detective-like work that concerns itself with reality making and the art of suggestion as well as conviction. The face-to-face interactions, drifting from banter and congenial conversations to quarrelsome and argumentative discussions craft a compelling atmosphere that sheds light to the individual players' social vitality. Significantly, however, while the truth that the movie drives towards seems to be convincing in the end, there is still a chance, albeit minimum, that the conviction the jurors have come to terms with remains only subjective. The various allusions to games, combat and odds underlines the climate of an abstract reality, while Henry Fonda's character, Juror No.8, represents the gamemaster. As a lawyer, this film draws me into a room with 12 strangers serving as jurors, tasked with deciding the fate of a young boy. The dialogue is exceptional, and every character feels authentic and compelling. 12 Angry Men is a masterclass in storytelling and persuasion—the easiest 10/10 I could ever give. See more Joaquin U @Joaquin1 Jul 17 Very entertaining. Aside from a bit of over‑the‑top acting, it’s about as perfect as a film gets. Extraordinary cast, strong direction, and a tight script. A realistic legal drama that never drags. And for those claiming it was set in only one room—wrong. It moves through the courtroom, the jury room, the bathroom, and even outside the building. Just pointing out how easy it is for "witnesses" to get facts wrong. Anyway, enjoy watching; odds are you will. See more Mark B @Thelaser555 Jul 12 Who would have thought 12 actors in a film located in just one room would be so enthralling, so real, so gritty and so dramatic for every second of the way??? A young man is about to sent to the electric chair for murder until deep thinking Henry Fonda decides not to make it a unanimous verdict by voting not guilty. Then all hell breaks loose. The sheer tension of the reality of sending a person to their death slowly but surely starts to sink in and then fray on the nerves and torment even the most ardent of guilty voters which is Lee J Cobb. Cobb gives an electrifying, larger than life performance (much like the mob boss in On the Waterfront with Brando) and takes it to the wire as the final jury member to change his mind.
