Unreels as a horror rewrite of Nicholas Ray's 'Bigger Than Life,' as Beal's addiction to his serum turns him into not just a literal monster but a monstrous father... Go to Full Review

A minor horror chiller that is well-acted, but seems more amusing than scary. Go to Full Review

Joel H @786Joel 5 days ago With a title like The Vampire, I expected this movie to be a little more vampire-y. Perhaps a better name for this story would be Monster Withdrawals. Because while the creature involved does look grotesque, it doesn’t really look like a vampire. I was also a little confused by the plot. Dr. Paul Beecher accidentally takes a pill laced with the blood of vampire bats, so he changes into a monster whenever he takes them. However, he also turns into a monster when he doesn’t take them. And the plot doesn’t really follow any traditional vampire lore. All in all, I’d probably recommend skipping The Vampire. See more Blobbo X @Blobbo Feb 1, 2025 Mostly tedius variation on Jeckyl and Hyde theme with sub-par monster noises. (Poor girl who play Hassie in Real McCoys as heartbroken daughter. Sweet girl, think Blobbo.)(Stars for her.) See more Aug 15, 2021 Kenneth Tobey Is The Number One! See more Simon T @MovieTart Aug 8, 2020 Of course, this is absolute rubbish. Implausible, ludicrous, unoriginal. But it's also great fun, mainly because the acting is quite good and the vampire make-up is so hilariously dreadful that you long for the doctor protagonist (Beal) to succumb again. Pinching bits from The Wolf Man, Jekyll and Hyde and Cat People, this is drive-in schlock of the highest ordure. See more Oct 10, 2016 Nothing too interesting here. There are good story elements but eventually it just turns to be another generic man-monster on the loose movie. Campy at times, but hardly memorable. See more Read all reviews
