Instead of relying on plotlines from other movies and writing dialogue they think sounds accurate to what kids would say, perhaps they should make a rom-com with adult characters and draw from experiences of their own. Go to Full Review

There’s not an ounce of satiric bite or juvenile raunch in [this] mellow, relentlessly wholesome coming-of-age comedy-drama, which [is] unremittingly earnest and well-intentioned without ever managing to be truthful or insightful. Go to Full Review

Heartfelt intentions alone cannot rescue this nostalgic coming-of-age comedy that’s impossibly wholesome and relentlessly corny. Go to Full Review

This is, in its indistinctly nostalgic and emptily heartwarming way, almost insufferable. Go to Full Review

Instead of getting caught up in Mikey’s challenges and fears, one is more aware of filmmaking decisions and screwy timeline choices, diminishing the nostalgic rush Gray is laboring to provide. Go to Full Review

Bill Sep 8, 2026 A low budget movie about little league and a first kiss, with some family and social drama tossed in. It's sweet and simple, but ultimately forgettable. Though it does feature a great-looking Christie Brinkley so there's that. See more AMN Sep 6, 2026 Loved this movie! Funny, heartwarming and nostalgic in the best way, with a wonderful cast and a story that takes you back to a simpler time. It’s refreshing to see a genuinely feel-good movie with so much heart — and one that kids, parents and grandparents can all enjoy. A definite must see! See more DWayne S Sep 5, 2026 This movie is incredibly hard to sit through. Do yourself a favor and sit it out. See more Todd Sep 4, 2026 Great movie, very touching about the coming of age in small town America. Family, courage, friendship and dedication are the core values of a good life and this film exemplifies them. Steve Guttenberg plays Mikey, a guy explaining about the summer he turned sixteen, making the travel baseball team, working his first job, and falling for Kelly, played as a teen by Mia Talerico and later by Christie Brinkley. It’s a simple setup, but the movie earns every bit of its heart. What got me was how real it all felt. The small-town details — pool parties, biking around with friends. Guttenberg narrating from the future gives it this bittersweet layer, like he’s telling you a story he still thinks about. And Brinkley is wonderful as the adult Kelly; there’s a quiet grace to her scenes. The young cast is surprisingly good. It’s only about 1 hour & twenty minutes, but it doesn’t waste a second. If you’re in the mood for something warm and genuine, the kind of film that reminds you why you loved movies as a kid. Go see it. I’d recommend it to anyone. See more Read all reviews
