La recomendó la escritora de la Criada. See more Christian M @chriss17eu Mar 4, 2026 Unjust, terrifying, and compelling at times, 'Belén' grabs attention in its first half hour with a deeply intimate drama that channels psychological horror without supernatural elements. Its treatment of abortion and its personal, legal, and public consequences feels like horror born from systemic injustice, a growing tension that permeates every scene. The performances are solid but not memorable, the characters more cogs than individuals. What strikes is the portrayal of a system generating frustration and helplessness, creating moral outrage beyond politics. Dolores Fonzi directs with a sure hand, establishing a rhythm of anticipation and anxiety, though the film slows after the first half hour. 'Belén' is intense, uncomfortable, and necessary—a brave, human story that invites reflection, despite its flaws. See more Kyle M @RT77296778 Feb 25, 2026 Though it feels slightly tamed without full disclosure, Dolores Fonzi’s directorial debut presents an instinctual focus on chronicling a powerful message that attributes to its sensitively complicated discourse with such captivating grip in a sympathetic gaze she professionally embodies on both sides, finding this as one of the best contemporary legal dramas whilst honoring the subject’s continuous legacy. I think the movie grabbed me quickly in the beginning, and I felt invested to learn more about what would happen. I do think it feels a bit rushed in some places and could have gotten away with being even longer. Still, the acting is good, and the story is one that I feel people should know about, regardless of where you live in the world. Overall, it is a good movie that shines a light on important topics, and I can see why Argentina has chosen to submit it for this award season.
