High school can be tough for many teenagers, but for Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), it's especially hellish. A shy and awkward teen being raised by a religious zealot (Julianne Moore), Carrie is frequently the target of bullies. But Carrie has a secret talent: She can make things move with her mind. One fateful night, an especially cruel prank at her senior prom pushes her over the edge, and Carrie unleashes her telekinetic powers on all who get in her way.

Critics Consensus

It boasts a talented cast, but Kimberly Peirce's "reimagining" of Brian De Palma's horror classic finds little new in the Stephen King novel -- and feels woefully unnecessary.

Carrie resonates for women in particular because it touches on so much of the horror of becoming female that it's almost too real. I love that Kimberly Piece chose to honor that horror faithfully, even if it doesn't make for a radical re-visioning.

Moretz plays Carrie as either a constantly petrified, meek outcast or a grimacing destroyer. Peirce fails to build a connection between audience and protagonist.

A tired, unneeded copy of Brian De Palma's far superior work, with the small changes it makes adding nothing of significance.

Sadly, despite the talent involved in putting this film together, it still all winds up feeling remarkably redundant. We already had a Carrie movie.

The new Carrie offers no fresh insights into the material and delivers far less than what De Palma achieved both thematically and cinematically.

Carrie 2013 i’m gonna say this in this review this is hilarious every actress that played carrie so far is prettier than 90% of the school how in the hell she is getting bullied 🤦 anyway carrie 2013 is a solid remake finally an entry i like and not a boring snooze fest the actress that plays carrie here is really good at her emotions through out and her powers go crazy before the prom even happens the mom acting is pretty great here as well the best performance in the film by far and the classmates are not as wierd here as well like some of them care about her and not just keep throwing on The prom is great the effects are iffy which is odd for this entry with an higher budget so that kinda sucked the ending was little different but still an ending i don’t like i said in carrie 1976 overall solid not great tho just bland in parts and the ending sucked 77%

I couldn't get past 15 minutes. Literally tries to do a full remake of 70s movie based in 2000. All shock no substance. A crazy mother who hasn't got child taken away be placed in mental hospital. I don't care about bully teenagers

I feel like the acting doesn’t compare to the original. I feel like Julianne Moore wasn’t domineering enough. The cgi was a little bit overboard
