The invasion of a village in Byelorussia by German forces sends young Florya (Aleksey Kravchenko) into the forest to join the weary Resistance fighters, against his family's wishes. There he meets a girl, Glasha (Olga Mironova), who accompanies him back to his village. On returning home, Florya finds his family and fellow peasants massacred. His continued survival amidst the brutal debris of war becomes increasingly nightmarish, a battle between despair and hope.

See more David G @DavidGarvin Jan 28 Come and See is less "War Movie" and more "Horror Movie". And not a hack and slash type, but rather one of those rare horrific films that grabs you by the neck. The horrific part of the scenes depicted in the film are that much worse knowing that such atrocities did happen. This film, made some 40 years after the end of the war, shows just how deeply scarred the USSR was by the war against Germany. One could argue that those scars still exist. See more Gabriel KP. I was looking forward to seeing this after the RT ratings and other reviews. As a WWII history buff, this film should have a treat....it wasn't. Slow, meandering plot. The interaction between the lead character and the young girl is pointless. This movie could have been 45 minutes shorter. Maybe this is the Russian film DNA, but I was pretty disappointed.
