Mate P @matepolcz Jul 22 The Day After Tomorrow is a lot of fun if you turn your brain off. I knew that this film sas supposed to be pretty bad, that's why I didn't watch it for a long time. My low expectations are probably the reason why I loved it. The wolf part was unnecessary, the characters don't really have arc, the science is nonsensical and the politics are unrealistic, but I didn't care about these too much. I liked the characters and their conflicts. The story is generic, but sometimes that's okay. The emotionality doesn't fully work, because it's rushed. The directing has the sauce of the era. Yes, the script is not too smart, but the cinematography, editing, production design and costume design work together to create a colorful, dynamic world with some nice lighting. Allthough this is only true when they didn't go the VFX-heavy route. The cast is pretty good, the performances are good enough. The Day After Tomorrow is not smart, but a lot of fun if you let it be. See more K G @KatyG-S Jul 15 It did not happen after tommorow. "The Day After Tommorow" was bound to be a commercial success, yet the movie is unexpectedly not a critical success. When there is drama, you casted Jake Gyllenhaal portraying Sam Hall (son of Jack Hall). Given it is a drama, he looks too goofy - that makes things too optimistic. Hope may have happened in the end, but it got cliche with Sam's slight romance story & the parent/child understanding trope. Does not work everywhere. At the start, I can see the green screen is not great yet other FX are. Then again, maybe you should be careful of what you watch if there are factual inaccuracies. It has great special effects for it’s time, a decent plot and stays true to science but the characters didn’t have any depth to them. I understand the film is about a catastrophic event but every time there wasn’t a storm or some sort of chaos happening I kind of lost interest.
