Long ago, Abraham Van Helsing (Christopher Plummer) imprisoned the infamous Count Dracula (Gerard Butler) within a vault inside Carfax Abbey. In the present day, Van Helsing relies on Dracula's immortal blood to remain alive. But then thieves break into the vault and steal the vampire's coffin, thinking it contains something valuable. Critics Consensus

This retelling trys to offer a different spin on the origin of Dracula. Unfortunately, there's nothing here audiences haven't seen before.

Mary, a descendant of the prototypical vampire slayer, works at a Virgin megastore in New Orleans, and the gratuitous use of the city during Mardi Gras is the least of this movie's unoriginal sins.

One half-expects a sexually subversive, blood-soaked gay carnival. Instead, Simon makes the effete Dracula (Butler) suck on some abuse.

Butler is certainly charismatic as the undead bloodsucker, despite only having two expressions: slight bafflement, and, when an attractive neck comes into view, that of a small boy who's just heard an ice-cream van tinkling round the corner.

Has its moments, comic and heart-in-the-mouth, especially when Butler's Dracula is allowed to strut his stuff.

I had a lot of problems w/ this movie but the main two are one, when did vampires become immune to crosses & two, so Dracula is Judas Iscariot (the disciple that betrayed Jesus), that's the first time I've heard of that.

A breathtakingly bad movie with a truly odd cast, including four beautiful women and Gerard Butler as the most boring Dracula ever. Gets an extra couple of stars, though, for the fetching Jeri Ryan, Jennifer Esposito, Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick/Vitamin C and Justine Waddell. Blink and you'll miss Omar Epps and the sex criminal Danny Masterson. Fortunately, short.

The "soundtrack" is better than the entire movie.

It truly is tragic. One of the best origins of Dracula to ever be conceived and it is wasted on a pretty bad movie.
