This is another flick to catch on a streaming service, watch it at your leisure and enjoy the entertainment at a discount. The black-and-white visuals with splashes of color are still striking, and the atmosphere is strong, but the impact isn’t quite the same this time around. The stories are decent, but they don’t hit as hard or feel as memorable. Some moments stand out, but others blend together, making the film feel uneven. It has the same gritty tone and noir style, yet it lacks the sharp edge and freshness that made the first one stand out. It’s not bad, just not as engaging or exciting as it could have been. Overall, I’d rate it a 5/10—visually cool, but kind of average underneath the style. Unfortunately for me this was definitely a step down from the first film. Yes it had the same beautiful cinematography and some of the same cast but that’s were the similarities end with the sequel. The story is no where as engaging and even the acting from the better cast felt phoned in. Ultimately this isn’t a must watch as its predecessor.
