On the whole, GDN - which should've been a deeply moving biopic - ends up as an informative, visually beautiful but emotionally distant story. Go to Full Review Prashanth Vallavan The New Indian Express Aug 26, 2026

The incredible real-life story deserves more than GDN, but it also deserves the conversations and interest currently being showered upon it, the credit for which entirely rests with the film. Go to Full Review Prathyush Parasuraman The Hollywood Reporter India Aug 12, 2026
By turning a colourful life lived on the ire of multiple governments into a flat, tiresome portrait, Krishnakumar Ramakumar has thrust Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu into a second oblivion. Go to Full Review Sreeju Sudhakaran Rediff.com Aug 11, 2026

GDN has a remarkable story at its core and a terrific Madhavan at its centre, but this repetitive, textbook-style treatment keeps the genius of G D Naidu at a frustrating emotional distance. Go to Full Review Srinivasa Ramanujam The Hindu Aug 10, 2026

Kishore Aug 12, 2026 A decent biopic that fails to focus on his achievements and more on how he tackled internal politics. See more Cinema S @cinema_sensei Sep 7, 2026 The real-life story behind this is genuinely interesting, and that alone makes parts of it worth watching. But as a docudrama biopic, the execution feels too uneven. The AI-generated scenes are distracting and sloppy, while the emotional drama near the end never feels properly earned. A better film could have done this remarkable story much more justice. See more Read all reviews
