Ty J. @RT78715764 May 24 I just watched Hildago with my mom, I was surprisingly invested. It’s even cooler that it’s based on a true story. I learned about putting knives on the ground to listen to vibrations which I appreciate. I’d rate it a 10/10, I don’t think they could’ve anything better considering it was a true story, just some cgi stuff with the horses eyes looking wierd but that seems like a budgeting issue more than the crews work. I really liked seeing the Arabia setting too, it was fun to see that extreme side I’ve never seen before. See more Henry D @Henry_Domke May 16 Fun, old-fashioned adventure. The picture looked so good that it seemed like 4K and HDR. It sparkled, with rich color, strong flesh tones, and details in the fabrics and costumes that stood out beautifully. The big, immersive soundtrack helped give the story an epic sweep. We disagree with the negative reviews of the script. Yes, it’s broad and sentimental, but the high production value, Viggo Mortensen, the horses, and the desert scenery made it very enjoyable. See more CT 8 @ct8787 Mar 21 The " based on a true story" (according to Disney) account of Frank " the counterfeit cowboy" Hopkins. The man now considered to be the biggest conman/fraud in the history of the old west. Frank apparently participated in a gruelling 3000 mile race across Arabia on his trusted mustang ‘Hidalgo’. Unfortunately, the race known as the ‘Ocean of Fire’ has never existed. Nor is there any account of a mustang called Hidalgo on record. Disney knew all this prior to promoting the movie which raises the question….why would Disney laughably claim this movie was based on a true story when they knew the only person claiming this event really happened was a pathological liar incapable of telling the truth? The movie’s definitely cheesy and far fetched, but in spite of this I most likely would have given it a ‘thumbs up if Disney had been honest about the story. They couldn’t bring themselves to do that and I can’t bring myself to endorse a movie based on a lie. See more The Wandering D @RT87120553 Mar 14 It had been a long time since I had seen this movie. I actually use it as a bar against other movies of the genre. It's got a great balance of combat, excitement, drama and heart you need for a satisfying romp.
