Nathan J @TribianiRamoray 6 days ago Rating: 5.1/10 I’m a sucker for video game adaptations and wanted to see Thailand’s Home Sweet Home on screen. I expected messy and got it. Cool ideas, but the choppy delivery kept pulling me out. What Worked: • Bangkok as horror – Crowded neon streets and that hotel felt claustrophobic. Not your usual US haunted house films. • Michele Morrone as Mek – Creepy, unhinged. “The Keeper” line gave me chills. • The Hindrance – Purgatory looked like Thai ghost lore mixed with boss arenas. Visually stuck with me. What Didn’t: • Body-swap logic – Middle part confused me. I tracked body swaps instead of feeling scared. • Pacing – Cutting between Jake and Prang dragged for me. • Dialogue – Some lines felt dubbed-on-the-fly and killed tension. Verdict: Meh. Watch for Thai horror/game lore/Morrone fans. Skip if you need tight story. See more ducuong233 T @RT02197654 Sep 26, 2026 So Bad, I tried watching it up to the 40th minute. See more Mica B @Mica_B Aug 7, 2026 What a pointless waste of time. The acting was abysmal, some of the worst I've seen, really. They talked so robotically, and as if they were reading directly off their script while filming. I know she was like 7, but the little girl's acting was getting on my nerves. She reminded me of like a 4-year-old. The best actor was probably Michele Morrone, who played Mek, the evil henchman. The dialogue was bad, and so was the story. I do think the cinematography team did good, and whoever was in charge of the film sets. There was too much running in the movie. The zombies looked terrible. And the whole plotline was just so boring. They did kind of do a "white savior" trope which was unnecessary, like, I mean, you can have your main character be whatever race you want, but considering this is inspired by the game with the same name, they could've made the main character Asian. 🤷‍♀️ The ghost girl was cool (Seemed like a reference to the game.) but she was underused and underwhelming. See more Claudio C @Claudio666 May 16, 2026 Home Sweet Home: Rebirth (2025) Great CGI, Terrible Story and Acting (12,448 – 15 May 2026 – Claudio Carvalho) The former cop Jake travels to Bangkok with his wife Prang and their little daughter Loo on vacation and to visit his mother-in-law. They go to a mall to buy a gift to his mother-in-law and out of the blue, a shooter, Mek, kills several people. Jake sends Prang and Loo to the toilet and confronts Mek that blow up and kills them. Jake wake up in the purgatory The Hindrance, where the monk Chan tells him that he is The Keeper, who will prevent the Apocalypse, and his death has the intention to open the Gates of Hell. Now he needs to return to the world of living to save mankind. Reading the storyline of "Home Sweet Home: Rebirth" (2025), the film seems to be good. Unfortunately, the CHI is great but the story is confusing and the acting is terrible. My vote is four. This film really has nothing going for it. The acting is not good (looking at William Moseley) at times but the dialogues are so much worse. As a result none of these people act like real human beings after the first 15 minutes. You can't follow the plot of the movie even if you tried, it throws so many curve balls your way, I guess the director and writers didn't know either. Even the cinematography is weird. Why choose this angle over another? Yes it looks cool, but what does it do for the progression? One of the worst apocalyptic films I've ever watched and frankly, if my father didn't like low budget productions that run 15 years late on FTA television programs which he begs me to watch with him when I come visit, the worst film I'd have ever seen.
