B P @Bradster69 Sep 8, 2026 Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Mar 1, 2014 hmm an italian viking movie action adventure See more Sep 1, 2011 An Italian Viking epic? Why not? Some pretty impressive sets and location shooting pepper this so-so tale of Norsemen brothers, raised separately who are thrust back together through various machinations. It's OK, but nothing to write home about. I kept wanting it to be a bit more brutal, a bit more action packed, a bit more sexy, ...something. See more Sep 3, 2010 I'm a rabid Mario bava fan, but I must say that Erik the Conqueror is not one of my favorite Bava films. The sets provide a cool, surreal effect to parts of the film, but the story is jumbled and cheesy in a way that can't ultimately be saved by the atmosphere alone. The acting and death scenes are atrociously long and overdrawn, and even the fun Viking attack scenes feel like stock footage. An entertaining but ultimately flawed film that does not rank high on the scale of Bava's genre masterpieces. See more Nov 30, 2009 Not a bad movie considering it is a low budget 60s Italian Viking movie. Sure, there were some cliches involving twins, long lost siblings and tattoos, and the Viking Vestal Virgins with blue eye shadow was a little out of place. However, the story worked pretty well and the effects, although cheap were believable for the times. I think the ending would have been more satisfying had the hero and the villain gone toe to toe. However the irony and symbolism of the villains death was subtle enough and well thought out enough to make it work. Not a great movie, but hey, if you're looking for a 1960 Italian Viking movie this fits the bill. See more Read all reviews
