See more Tony S @RT22145614 Mar 8 Based on a true story, there is a fair amount of schmaltz, but there's also a lot of good community values and feelings. Jerry, a retired factory supervisor figures out how to beat a particular lottery game, and when that game closes in his home state of Michigan, he finds and plays it in Massachusetts. He includes anyone in his town who wants to play along in an investment syndicate. Conflict arises when a math whiz at Harvard figures out what Jerry figured out and then realizes that the winnings are less because there is another player, Jerry, also making big bucks from the game. In the end, Jerry and his wife Marge convince Massachusetts to fix one flaw in the game, and not long afterward Massachusetts closes the game down entirely. Before that, Jerry's investment group revitalized their small town and brought the town closer in the process. See more Tom M @RT77934561 Feb 6 This is the epitome of the feel good movie. Nothing really goes wrong ,everybody's homely and decent and the stakes aren't that high. Not based on a book, but an article in a newspaper...should tell you everything.
