A finely observed comedy, "Lovely & Amazing" is an intimate family portrait of four hapless but resilient women and the bittersweet lessons they learn in keeping up with the hectic demands of their individual neuroses. Each of the women seeks redemption in her own haphazard way, but whatever salvation they find is illusory and short-lived.

Critics Consensus

The bitingly truthful Lovely & Amazing is a smart and perceptive female character study.

Who'd have thought spending 90 minutes with a bunch of neurotic women could be such fun? An intelligent, unassuming drama that's never less than enjoyable.

Observed without corny resolutions and paced to allow for reflection, the film is understated but spot on.

Michelle isn't an easy woman to relate to let alone like, yet as the film progresses I was drawn more and more towards her inner warmth and charm discovering pieces of myself in her own persona.

Terribly outdated. The most disbelieving dialogue. Can kinda see what the female writer was trying to do -- she gets a half star for her effort for the time-- but she failed.

Really great film, teaches a lesson and feels good while you are involved in the story, I really like Catherine Keener as an actress and she really doesn't disappoint in this movie.
