Steven Spielberg uses a future of prediction, surveillance and advanced technology to ask whether justice can exist when punishment arrives before choice. The film is tense and visually ambitious, but its real strength is moral uncertainty. Tom Cruise gives the story a strong emotional center, balancing action with guilt, fear and desperation. The direction keeps the rhythm sharp, moving between spectacle and reflection without losing tension. Some visual effects have aged, and certain details of the system remain unclear, but those flaws do not weaken the central question. The film endures because it asks whether a predicted crime is the same as a committed one, and whether knowing the future destroys the freedom to change it. And Tom Cruise’s performance was stellar. The action, direction, script, and storyline were amazing. The only criticisms I have are the almost too fast pace and the intensity of the futurism. Another slam dunk from Steven Spielberg! The story was incredibly intense and gripping, leaving me trying to put the pieces together as the story progressed. The visuals were beautiful, and there were so many epic action sequences that made this movie so much fun to watch. I definitely recommend this for sci-fi, action, thriller, and crime fans! Not a sci fan generally, but this was far better than I expected, engrossing, sort of Blade Runner meets Mission Impossible, with a younger Tom Cruise just acting instead of peacocking about on both sides of the camera.
