She also looks back on the untimely passing of her mother and one of her children, two of the defining events of her life. An ideal pairing of Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Proof that the Academy has always a reserved a certain quota of its major nominations for films for which I doubt even their makers wished profoundly to be remembered. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE Aug 14, 2025 Interesting that in the middle of WW II Hollywood produced similar movies about family problems of the American aristocracy. The story is not very memorable, but it provides a good exposure for Greer Garson, who I admit I totally ignored although she had a stellar career with many nominations for Best Actress and one win. See more steve d @RT35616104 Jul 22, 2020 Forgettable and there was little plot. See more ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 Dec 10, 2018 Mrs. Parkington is an excellent film. It is about a widowed matriarch who reminisces about her family fortunes, including her romance with a financier/mine owner. Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Tay Garnett did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Mrs. Parkington is a must see. See more s r @ScottR May 3, 2017 A cute romance about rags to riches and husband wife struggles. It grew on me. See more Jul 20, 2015 Good classic movie. Nice story that moves fast through the lives of a family of a rich guy meets poor girl drams. Some of the characters were hard to figure out who they were such as Amory - the corrupt money-hungry guy. Or, what was Peter Lawford's role? Anyway, fun money to watch without bad language, sex, violence and vulgarity of 2015 movies. See more Jun 22, 2015 Tay Garnett's resplendent black-and-white MS. PARKINGTON represents one of eight Garson-Pidgeon star-vehicles, it is a vintage family saga of our titular heroine Susie Parkington (Garson), a rich matron starts with a humble beginning as a chambermaid, when a mine explosion takes her mother's life away, out of guilt and admiration, Major Augustus Tarkington (Pidgeon) marries her and spirits her away to New York, so she can get a luxurious life a woman can ever dream of. She gets some advice to adopt the lifestyle of beau monde from a French aristocrat Baroness Aspasia Conti (Moorehead), who is also Major's confidant. And a new but tumultuous page of life opens and Susie gives her best shot to manage a perfect marriage with a dignitary and grows up to be an exemplar who knows and accomplishes a woman's true worth, heightened by a dramatic presentation of an inopportune situation when most of their dinner guests are in absentia for their fancy reception and bookended by a vignette in London involves Edward, Prince of Wales (Kellaway). keep reading my review on my blog: http://wp.me/p1eXom-1VQ See more Read all reviews
