Craig bails his friend out of trouble, survives a climactic confrontation with Debo, the neighborhood bully, and ends up with the girl. In Next Friday the bully is back as Debo, who spent two years behind bars, is released from prison. Fearing for his son's safety, Craig's father sends his son to live with Uncle Elroy. However, Craig soon learns that trouble can find you no matter where you live.

Sadly, Epps's effort to replace Tucker as Cube's sidekick only downgrades the sequel. Otherwise, Next Friday has more of everything -- More importantly, however, Next Friday packs in more gags than the original.

While this sequel isn’t for everyone along with some fans of the first, I enjoyed it. However I agree, this is when the comedic tone and stuff gets lost and it’s not on the same as the original 1995 movie. Chris Tucker didn’t return because of money, the real reason is because his parents were very religious. This sequel however definitely pushes the NC-17 rating level as Craig’s Uncle named "Elroy" has sex toys in his house.

'Next Friday' disappoints, which isn't a surprise given the absence of Chris Tucker. The first film worked because of the two lead actors, so taking out one (esp. Tucker) was always going to make a sequel fall flat; especially without finding an adequate replacement. Ice Cube is OK and is the best part, if only via a process of elimination. Mike Epps didn't do it for me, his character is annoying. Of the newbies, Kym Whitley is the only one that comes close to working. Lisa Rodríguez's Karla is woefully written, as are the entire "Jokers" to be honest.
